Question about Rise and Storyline

That is a great question! For Storyline, the setting you're referring to is known simply as the Resume setting in the Player Properties. This option by default is Prompt to resume, but you can also set it to Always resume or Never resume. It sounds like you would be fine with the default setting, which as its name suggests would ask the user if they want to resume their saved progress or restart.

For Rise, when incorporating the learning experience into an LMS, the resume functionality should be on by default. Web-only courses will always restart at the beginning.

It is important to always test the course prior to rolling it out to to check that the functionality is what you intended, and specifically for Rise there have been reported issues with certain LMS and the resume feature not working as intended, in which case you would reach out to support by opening a case and they can likely pinpoint the issue for you.
