Question bank randomization feels off — am I missing a setting?

I’ve built a quiz in Storyline pulling from a question bank, but some learners keep getting very similar sets of questions on retakes. Randomization is turned on, yet the variety isn’t as wide as I expected.

Is there a hidden setting or trick to make each attempt feel truly unique?

  • Hi seema167! Thanks for reaching out! Randomization can feel repetitive if the setup’s tight. If you're pulling 10 questions from a bank of 15, there just isn’t much room for variety. Expanding your bank gives Storyline more to work with.

Storyline also reuses the same draw unless you tell it not to. To shake things up on retakes, make sure your Retry Quiz button resets the results, and that your quiz slides are set to reset to their initial state. That helps trigger a fresh draw each time.

There’s no setting that guarantees a completely new quiz, but these tweaks should make a big difference. Let me know if you’d like help reviewing your setup!
