Quiz keeps popping up

I have a video in my course and I would like to have quizzes added at certain points. I've tried using both cues and timeline sets to have the quiz pop up. This seems to work, however, once the quiz shows up, every time you try "seek" within the timeline (drag forward or back) the quiz pops up again and you can't move forward without taking the quiz again. I've attached a screen grab of the properties for the Quiz layer and the trigger is set to: Show layer Quiz 1 when the timeline reaches time 77.23s. Anyone have any idea how I can get this to stop happening?

  • Oh great question.  I tried a few things with the cue points and variables - didn't work, and then thought of this solution.  Unsure how your questions are set up, but maybe it it similar to this idea.

I put a rectangle on the slide (for testing purposes -  you can drag off the slide and leave it in the grey space around the slide when published).  I've created a trigger that changes the state of the rectangle based on a spot in the timeline/cue point.

The question layer is now visible based on that rectangle's state rather than any point in the timeline.  If the rectangle's state changes, then the question layer pops up.  After it gets hidden and doesn't show again because there is not another trigger that would make the rectangle change states again.  Once it goes past cue point 1, the rectangle is "on" and stays "on".

if I used a variable and turned it "on/true" as the timeline hit cue point 1, then off after the layer was displayed, as soon as you move the seekback back to cue point one the variable turns "on" again.  As you were experiencing as well.

    Example file attached.

  • You could have as many of these "off slide" rectangles as you wanted.  One for each cue point/question you need to have pop up.

Thanks for this question, I'm going to use this somewhere myself.
