Removing rounded corners on Multiple Choice questions

Hello,

I am in the progress of working on a custom designed quiz and noticed that the default text boxes in Multiple Choice questions have rounded corners. There is no yellow box to change the corner radius on these, and I was wondering if it is possible to make the corners square. I attached an image detailing the issue.

*I tried adding a shape under the the text, but doing this did not display the state changes of the shape properly.

Thanks

  • Hi Ryan- The shape of the corners on the multiple choice text boxes are not an editable feature in Storyline 2. If that's something you would like to be able to take advantage of though, I would urge you to Submit a Feature Request. :)

Happy to help! Don't hesitate to reach out if you have further questions.

  • If you made the custom shape with custom coding and all, then it is possible. Thanks!

  • Hello Akos! Thank you for reaching out!

You’re welcome to also share your thoughts of how this feature would be beneficial to you through a feature request, and we’ll share the information with our team!

  • Hi - just come across exactly the same requirement. I'm adding Storyline into an existing learning project - the style guide requires square boxes.

It's a small thing to ask - but could we have this editable? Please.

In the meantine I'm having to work around it with adding square cap ends in the States of the boxes - messy!!!

  • Thanks Judy

I did convert the quiz question to a Freeform question - but I was still struggling, as I wanted to use radio buttons for the multiple choice. You can stretch the radio buttons across the screen and insert the question text on the button - BUT it still has rounded corners.

I tried all sorts of ways around it. Slept on it. And then woke up at 4am this morning knowing the answer. Isn't it funny how the brain does that!

You create the radio buttons - format them for "Hover", "Selected" and "Down" states so the buttons look the way you want...

...and then you edit the states putting a SQUARE box over the ones you want to have a SQUARE colored background and just "Arrange" the box and send it to the back.

It is so simple I'm almost embarassed that it took me so long to work it out.

Using this technique, I could make my boxes any shape I want - I withdraw my feature request!

  • Drawing a rectangle behind the choice isn't an option for us because our courses get translated, so the amount of text contained within an option is variable, so we can't be certain how large the rectangle needs to be (i.e. it might need to wrap onto a 2nd line).

I have found that I can manually increase the padding between each option, so I could force additional space to draw a larger rectangle, but then I need to apply the same amount of additional padding between each option to avoid uneven padding.

It would be a lot nicer for the Storyline devs to just provide the option for non-radius corners.

I'm chiming in on being able to adjust and remove the radius corners from the hover state in graded questions for both multiple choice and multiple response. Yes, I can achieve this by inserting a shape, but the shape is not responsive if a learner adjusts a11y settings. In order to make courses AA compliant, I have to use the default radius corner hover state which is at often at odds with the brands styles for client courses.
