Require learner watch an embedded YouTube video in Rise?

Hello! I have embedded a YouTube video in my Rise course and have added the "Continue" divider, with the setting to "complete block directly above". It still doesn't require them to watch it though. I don't see anything else in Settings to change this? Any suggestions?

    Hi Elyse,

Rise cannot determine if activities that reside outside of Rise have been completed or not.

Why is it possible in Storyline and not in Rise?

    • Hi Bruno!

Happy to help! I just want to make sure I'm understanding your question correctly.

Storyline 360 does not have a counterpart for the Continue button as we see in Rise 360. Could you please clarify?

Thank you! Looking forward to hearing from you!

  • Barreau du Québec is suggesting you can require people to watch embedded videos in Storyline.

  • We build in Storyline 360 and export to SCORM 1.2 for our LMS. We need the videos to be required - and not allow them to fast forward through it. How do we do that?

  • Hi, Children's Alliance of Kansas,

Thanks for reaching out! If you're using an inserted video, you can apply the steps below to require learners to view it without allowing them to fast-forward. Note that this will not apply to embedded or online videos, as media-specific triggers won't work.

    1. Turn off the player seekbar and the video controls.
    2. Turn off the Next button when the timeline starts.
    3. Set the state of the Next button to Normal when the video or online video completes.

I have attached a sample Storyline project to illustrate the process. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have additional questions.
