Resizing the states of a custom button
I've imported images as different states of a button that I've created. If I click on my button on the main timeline and resize it, it only resizes the first image (state normal). How can I resize the entire button (all of the states) at once?

Hi Andrew,
You would have to edit the states individually. There isn't a way to do this globally for all states except when the button and/or state is first created.

darn....that would be very handy.
It's a bit strange because I can globally change the size of button states if I choose insert / button but not if I create my own button.

Hi Andrew,
It's more about initial creation of said button than anything done to it after. Being able to change states globally after initial insertion/creation would make a great feature request though.

Hi Andrew,
You can also use the format painter to copy and paste. It will make things a little quicker, but you would still need to do it for each state.

I tried applying for format painter to various images and it doesn't seem to work. Have you gotten it to work with images?

Hi Andrew,
Yes, I have. Here is a tutorial on the format painter, in case you haven't seen it yet. If you still can't get the format painter to work for images, let me know. There are few other things we can try.

thanks for the tutorial but it doesn't work. I have a button with 4 images. (1 in each state) I resize the image in state 1 and then click the paint brush. I then click on state 2 and when I mouse over the image on the slide my state 1 image actually appears. (If I do these steps in button edit mode then the state 1 images doesn't appear but it still doesn't resize the image)

Hi Andrew,
I don't know why I did, but I misunderstood you. I thought you had meant to images in general, totally ignoring the context of our conversation. I have tested it just now and I can't get it to work either. I apologize, but it looks like this is still feature request territory.

I just noticed something....when I use the illustrated characters and add states, they all resize at the same time. However when I use photographic characters and add states they don't resize all together. Weird that they behave differently.

Perhaps related to this...
I've noticed that I can apply format changes across all states of an object as long as I'm working on the slide on which I originally created that object. As soon as I copy the object and paste it to another slide, all format changes will only modify the "normal" state and none of the other states. This may not be what's happening with you, Andrew, but I wanted to bring it up. I've submitted a bug report for this.
