Scenario Branching in Rise

Has anyone found a way to import Scenario Branching into Rise from the web-based tool "Twine" Scenario Branching?

  • Currently the form-based scenario structure in Rise has a constrained process...situation, decision, feedback, reset...you have simple authoring for simple scenarios.

If you wanted more freeform structure, then currently Storyline is the better option.

So I am not able to import any scenario built in twine in to rise or could I import it into storyline and create a block?

  • You can create scenarios in Twine, but the freeform structure in Twine doesn't work the same as Rise. You could build the scenario in Twine and use the embed feature with an iFrame or embed code if Twine offers that. Or build the scenario in Storyline and add as a block in Rise.

Thank you Tom for your thorough replies!
      Branching scenarios are great.

  • Hi Alan!

Thanks for your reply, it looks like you replied via email, and your signature came through too. No worries though, you can edit that out by clicking here and editing your last reply!

  • Using Rise scenario blocks, can we navigate the learners to another lesson, based on the options selected by them in the scenarios?

  • Hi Deepali!

Right now you can set up the scenario answer choices to navigate to any other slide within the scenario. However, it's not possible to send the learner to a completely different lesson. I appreciate you sharing that feature idea with us!

  • I looked through the Discussions.

Branching and Optional content have been a stable discussion for over 4 years; which indicates people really want and need it.

Why aren't the Rise team taking this feedback onboard and implementing it into the product?

Adding a +1 to this. We switched from Storyline to Rise this year for creating an annual training that goes out to the masses and found Rise much easier to use, with the exception of there not being any branching options for users to choose a certain path. Instead, a lot of leg work was required to create four individual paths and then figure out who had to be assigned which path based on their job title, location, etc., within our LMS. I would love to see a branching option added to Rise in the future.

  • Hi Lori,

We appreciate your feedback! We currently have a feature request logged for the option to branch to other lessons and learning paths. I'll add your vote and will be sure to update this discussion if this makes it to our feature roadmap.

If you have any questions in the meantime, please let us know and we'll be happy to help!
