SCORM not working in Chrome

Attempting to run Storyline SCORM content saved in our LMS via Google Chrome, but it did not work.  While trouble shooting we have checked that it's published in 3rd edition, cookies are allowed, API and feedback loops are correct.  It plays successfully in Safari browser but it won't load in Chrome.  Any suggestions to fix/convert/change the SCORM content or browser settings to be Chrome compatible? Thanks.

I just uploaded the ZIPped file to SCORM Cloud and it seems to be working fine in Google Chrome. Do you need the course to launch the player in a new window, since your LMS could do that just as easily?

  • Hello Dolores,

    Happy to help!

I uploaded your course in SCORM Cloud and tested it using Google Chrome's latest version and I can confirm that it loaded for me. This means that the issue might be isolated to your LMS. Here's a link to your course in SCORM Cloud for your reference.

If the link that I shared loads for you as well, please reach out to your LMS administrator so they can check why courses uploaded in their environment isn't loading properly in Google Chrome.

  • One thing to note however is that Chrome now warns for 'third-party cookie restrictions'.
    https://developers.google.com/privacy-sandbox/3pcd#:~:text=to%20take%20action.-,To%20facilitate%20testing%2C%20Chrome%20has%20restricted%20third%2Dparty%20cookies%20by,of%20users%20from%20Q3%202024.

Cookies in cross-site context will be blocked in future Chrome Versions. Apple and Safari doing this already for some time, and i did notice issues on LMS's when users use Safari.

@Articulate !! Do ensure that whenever Chrome starts this policy ( Q3 of 2024 ! ) Storyline, Rise and Review content wont have issues. Enough time to make sure for that now.

We are also experiencing issues lately with this. Would be nice if @Articulate dedicates some resources to make sure all keeps working (or will work again) and perhaps elaborate on more info for this, solutions, steps to take, etc... in a separate page/article.

  • We are also experiencing this issues on DOCEBO LMS. Are there any workoaround to fix it?

      Hello Marco,

Sorry to hear about your experience. As a troubleshooting step, please test your course in SCORM Cloud so we can isolate if the behavior is a browser, LMS, or course issue.

If your course works properly in SCORM Cloud, the issue is isolated to your LMS. If your course works when viewed using other browsers, the behavior is isolated to Google Chrome. And if your course doesn't work in SCORM Cloud, the issue might be in your course itself.

If the issue isn't LMS-related, please open a case with our support team here so we can take a closer look at the behavior.
