Screen reader not reading any content
Have you assigned Text Tyles to all your text boxes?
We ran into this problem before - if there was only ONE text box onscreen (that had the "Normal Text" heading assigned to it - you can see this in the menu bar under TEXT STYLES), the Screen Reader would read the text, but if there were ADDITIONAL boxes on screen that didn't have text styles (or were also Normal Text), the screen readers were calling them "Group" and getting stuck on them. If you tried to tab past it, the screen reader skipped over reading any text and went straight to any buttons on the page.
The way to fix this is to assign Text Styles to every piece of text on your slide. Apply Heading 1 for all titles. Applying Heading 2 for subtitles, apply Normal Text for body text, (and we created a Custom style for button text so that even if we changed the Normal Text style, it didn't affect the font style on the buttons), and then customize your focus order so that it moves according to the sequence of the interaction.
I hope this helps?
Hello Valerie!
Thanks for sharing that assigning Text Styles to every text on the slide works for you! I'm sure this will be helpful to other community members running into the same issue.
Enjoy the rest of your day! 🙂
