I'm fighting with this same issue - but maybe more too...?
When I set the dimensions for the screen recording, it matches the default slide size AND my desktop resolution settings. The "red box" of recording is visible exactly around what I want to record, and it looks like it is working beautifully... but then when it processes and is ready to load into my slides, the program is compressed to the left, and there is a wide band of extra screen to the right.
I did exactly what the instructions said and I am still stuck with a smushed recording.
Thoughts?

Hello Gina,
Happy to help out!
As a troubleshooting step, try any of the following to see if they fix the slide display issues you're experiencing:
- Set the Scale setting of your monitor in Display Settings to 100%. To access this option, right-click anywhere on your desktop and select Display Settings.
- Unplug any secondary monitor that you may have attached. I understand that this solution is not ideal, but this will help us isolate if the behavior is happening because of having multiple monitors attached.
Let me know how it goes!
