Search-as-you-type field

Hello Everyone,

I'm creating an interactive eLearning in Storyline that mimics some of the fields in a piece of software that we use. However, I'm having trouble replicating a search-as-you-type field (image included for reference) I've figured out how to make a regular dropdown but I would like to be able to have users search for entries in that dropdown.

I tried different layers and states triggered by key presses but the problem I ran into is that they have to click outside of the text entry box after every letter for the trigger to activate and this requires the user to type a specific word.

Has anyone had any type of success in replicating a search-as-you-type field? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you so much! I'll give this a try. I'm new to javascript so the links are greatly appreciated.

  • Hi there! I have been looking to do this very thing! EhsenMalikFH It looks like someone may have responded to you with some help, but I can't see the response. Did you figure out a way to do this?

Hi AmandaShaffer-3! It is possible the community member who responded is no longer active in the community. I will say, JavaScript is not our typical area of support, so if you need JavaScript help, you might consider asking in the JavaScript group. It is filled with experts!

      Hi AmandaShaffer-3,

Sorry for the delayed response. Unfortunately the suggested workaround was outdated when I tried it and I can no longer access that post. I ended up animating it by having a dropdown appear when the user started typing in the search field.
