Selling Articulate courses through WooCommerce?

Hello, I'd like to sell Articulate courses through WooCommerce but have no idea how to go about it and am hoping someone can help. I need the courses to only be accessible to those who've paid and to track people's individual progress. I found an old post in this forum that might have the answer but I'm new to LMS and Articulate and need further guidance. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Hi isabellefr this request might be a bit outside the scope of the discussion board as the solution has more to do with WordPress and WooCommerce.

A published Articulate course (Storyline or Rise) will produce HTML/JS/CSS files, which as far as WooCommerce is concerned is a non-tangible digital asset.

I would do some research on the WooCommerce side as I know their Themes and Plug-ins are well documented, and there will be a lot of free tutorials on sites like YouTube and there will also be a lot of course on setting up WooCommerce available for a few dollars on other websites (CodeAcademy, Udemy).

I found this link just through a quick Google. It looks fairly comprehensive and may help make some decisions: https://woocommerce.com/posts/how-to-sell-online-courses-wordpress/

I'd recommend making a start yourself, and then once you get to the nitty gritty, you can start to ask specific questions, as this question is really too broad for somebody to be able to give you an answer in a few paragraphs.

You also have a big advantage these days with tools such as ChatGPT which can help you get started.

At the very least, I would recommend that you get WordPress installed, the appropriate themes and plugins installed (WooCommerce), look which services you will use for processing payments etc.

If you don't have the skills to complete such tasks, and/or are not interested in learning the tech side of things, then you will need to hire somebody to complete this work for you.

The other option would be to sell courses through a 3rd party service. The upside is you will be up an running quickly, the downside of course is the commission a 3rd party service will take from each sale (guessing around 30%).

Hi SamHill, thanks for your response!

The link you found is great but doesn't talk about platforms like Articulate, it only mentions how to use Sensei LMS as the course builder (which you then sell through WooCommerce). I've tested embedding Articulate courses in my WP site so I know how to do that, but they're currently visible to all, and free. What I'd like is for them to be behind a paywall and for students' progress to be tracked, etc. Is that done purely with WooCommerce or would I need another plugin too?

Hi isabellefr an option might be using sensei to build courses to sell, but then just embed your Storyline course in a page on a sensei course.
