Severe Lag in Displaying Layers

I am experiencing significant lag when trying to display a layer. I've tried to solve the problem by rebuilding the layer but continue to experience the problem. You can see the issue from the attached file by clicking on the Submit button. There is also lagging when hovering over the "i" buttons on the left side of the screen (although not as severe). I do have quite a few components on the base layer, so I don't know if I've hit some sort of rendering limit (which seems ridiculous). But appreciate it if anybody has any suggestions on how to resolve. Up against a deadline.

Thanks!

  • I'm not sure what is causing the lag, you can get support to look at the file.

    A quick fix:

    • in the mouseover layers, get rid of the entrance animations
    • copy the content from the layers into the hover state for that button
    • delete the layers & triggers

That should respond a lot faster.

    Mary Scott,

I think the number of Numeric Entry fields may be causing the problem. Although 16 entry fields doesn't seem excessive, when I hide those fields in the timeline, I don't experience the lag. You could just remove those and display a numeric variable that the user adjusts with the arrow buttons you have provided.

  • Thanks for the responses. It does indeed appear to be related to the number of entry fields and/or variables. Articulate has acknowledged this is a bug. So I guess I will be turning them off and forcing the learner to use the arrows instead.

  • Hi Steve and Mary-Scott,

I have some great news to share. We just released another update for Storyline 360. In Update 75, we’ve included important fixes and new features.

We've included a fix for this issue:

Layers with multiple text boxes and text-entry fields would load slowly.

To take advantage of this update, launch the Articulate 360 desktop app on your computer and click the Update button next to Storyline 360. You'll find our step-by-step instructions here.

Please let me know if you need additional help!
