Share objects and layers across scenes and projects
I am trying to share components like buttons and layers used for things like displaying variables for debugging and navigation menus. I would like to be able to make changes to these types of components and have them update globally across the the entire project. I am constantly going back through each slide and updating layers, button states and variables. There must be an easier way to maintain these types of global components that I'm not aware of.
Most other authoring platforms have the ability to create instances of objects. Unless I'm missing something, I can't find any way in storyline to create "instances" of objects and/or share layers across scenes/projects that could then be globally updated.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Some of what you want to do could be accomplished by putting objects on the Master Slide Layout. For example, you could easily display a variable for debugging.

That might well be the answer! Especially if I can set and adjust variables on the master layers. Thanks a lot you might just have solved my problem!

This is the way... thank you so much. I mostly start projects by sucking in PowerPoints so I've not paid much attention to how those slide masters work in Storyline.
I guess I'll go ahead and renew my subscription. I was literally about to give up on the darn thing. They should give you a commission!
As far as variables, I set a tab in the player to adjust variables for testing and then get rid of the tab when I publish the final course. Here's a simple example.
I create a slide where I can manually modify variables. And then I add it to the tab on the player, top right.
Here's another example where navigation and badges are locked, but I can adjust the variable to test it and not go through all of the nav requirements.
