SL360/SL3 and OneDrive

Do StoryLine and OneDrive play nice now?

I know in the past, files would be missing after sync.

Today, about a year after I heard about that (and saw it firsthand), I did a quick test run - and it seems to be working just fine. Even the external_files folder is populated as expected.

Is it safe for me to tell my IT department now that I can use OneDrive?

For those not familiar with OneDrive:  the files are stored in both locations, and synced when connected. Therefore, when I launch a .story file from my OneDrive folder in Windows Explorer, I'm launching the local copy. Per my IT guys...

  • Just found this conversation thread as I am experiencing files missing, in particular external files that I have added into the resources section just aren't getting published!!

I initially was publishing to OneDrive, however, I have also tried publishing locally to my Desktop and still no joy!

Is anyone aware of a bug?

Hi Nadia, I hope someone from Articulate responds because OneDrive seems to be the common denominator.

  • I guess the users directory ( thats where OneDrive default saves your local files ) is what causes issues. I notice i often cannot write files directly there...something preventing it.  So instead i have a C:\Projects folder in which i have all write/read rights without further adue. Inthere i copy my Storyline projects including all resources and WebObjects i use. Always works fine for me.

PS. My WebObjectsfolder in fact is on OneDrive, but Storyline copies those folders into Storyline itself and on publish it publishes it to the Users folder... so for sure there somewhere is the cause of this all...

Well, once again - I removed OneDrive from my life. Sort of. I still have it, and can manually copy things to it, but the automated sync is disabled and my nerves have recovered from the fiasco. My files are automagically working fine now. I think what was happening was that OneDrive would be in the middle of syncing my file while I was working on it.

  • Thank you Math and Cheryl. I submitted a ticket with my IT department to investigate how our OneDrive is set up. Storyline and its many restrictions is not ideal for the average user.
