Slide Master and Layout

Hi Articulate,

I'm new to Articulate authoring tools. I think to have a quick check with the expert here to kick start my course development. I tried to create a template with multi brands, and was trying to add buttons with triggers in slide master and layout.

However, I knew i am wrong when i start a new project using this created template. The buttons cannot be adjusted and also unable to find in timeline. By doing so, also messed up the Articulate template when import powerpoint.

Thus, i want to find out what is the best practice from this community.

  • Hi!

Welcome to the Articulate Suite! There is a lot to learn, particularly with Storyline, but these are excellent tools and the best way to get used to them is to keep using them. So, stick with it!

To clarify, you imported your PowerPoint into Storyline and made all of your changes (adding buttons) under View | Slide Master, correct? Did you then try to edit the buttons in slide view?

Hi JenniferRowl581 , nice to know you. Thank you for answering my queries. Yes. I created an articulate template and create the triggers under Slide Master. Perhaps, it is better to put in my created template for better overview of situation. I would like to have same layout design of power point, so that when import in the layout can remain the same. Course development in powerpoint will involve a few persons, in that case, i would like to create a unify template(at least all the standard button shows in template) are functional across scene or project. Looking forward to your advice how to develop this template is the best way moving forward.

I see. I have never added buttons or triggers in Slide Master. I just tried and it didn't work. I would recommend importing your PowerPoint slides, then add buttons and triggers in Slide view, not in Slide Master.

Once you have it set up the way you want it, you can save it under Slides | Team Slides. This is essentially a template. I do recommend testing this after you save it by adding the shared template to a new Storyline file to ensure it works as intended.

Hi JenniferRowl581. Thank you for your advice. I will try the way you recommend. At least i know now the way moving forward, instead continue to dwell in the wrong way.
Thanks again and have a good day.
