Some images enlarge when clicked on and some do not

For consistency reasons, I'd like to understand why some of my images enlarge while others do not. Is this based on original image sizes?

(I'm referring to when you hover over an image, get the magnifying glass icon and click on the image.)

Thanks!

Whether images enlarge or not when clicked on, is determined by the Enable zoom on image click checkbox.

This checkbox needs to be set for each image,

Or are you talking about something strange happening regardless of this setting?

I have a timeline block with 3 events and an image in each event. I don't
see that this block type has settings that enable zoom. But if I click on
the image in the first event, it remains the same size, whereas if I click
on the image in the 3rd event, it seems to enlarge.

  • I have found that the size of my original image does make a difference to how large the zoomed in image is. If my image is small, when I zoom in, it doesn't get much bigger. Whereas if my image is large, when I zoom in, it gets significantly bigger. But I would also like to know definitively how this works.

OK, that helps to narrow things down. As stated in the original post, zooming does seem to be related to the original size of the uploaded image.

Based on my observations, Rise has a predefined area on a process step page that is used to display images.

If the original image is larger than the image display area, the image will be resized dynamically to fit within the predefined boundaries. When zooming in, Rise will display the original larger image.

Whereas if the image you upload is smaller than the predefined image display area, it will stay at the same size when "zoomed in".

There are other block types that work in the same way, e.g. the Image & Text block.

  • So what are the guidelines for the size of image to upload if I want it to zoom correctly and look good?

  • Hi Laura! We generally recommend that you use the largest and highest quality image that you have available to you.

If you can share what block type you're using, we can make more specific recommendations!
