Step-by-Step Guide converting Articulate modules with Flash to HTMLS 5

Does anyone have a Step-by-Step guide on how to convert existing Articulate modules with Flash over to HTML5?

Thank you

  • Hi Andrew,

Thanks for reaching out! There's not really a step-by-step guide for converting courses as in most cases, all you'll need to do is republish to HTML5.

There are some things to take note of. For example, if you have any Flash images or videos (SWF files), you'll need to remove those before you re-publish. You can read more about that in this article below!

Judging by the files available in your published folder, it has already been published to include the HTML5 output. So when flash is no longer supported in browsers, your course should fall back to display the HTML5 version, and until then, the Flash version.

Unless there is specific content in your course, like Flash SWF, FLV, etc., you should be good to go. Otherwise, you'll have to recreate that content either right in Storyline on the stage w/animation, etc., or in some other approved format that could then be imported into Storyline.

  • This is all I have for my course file.   Can I have support to convert them to a .story file?   So I can u se them.

  • Hello Tricia and welcome to E-Learning Heroes 😊

Thanks for reaching out and sharing what you have to work with. It looks like you have the zipped published output, which does not include the .story project file that is needed to update within Storyline and re-publish.

Can you do a search for that same file name with a .story file type to see if you may still have the project file?

  • I have a SCORM packaged file that I am hoping you would be able to convert to HTML5 using Articulate. Any suggestions?

  • Hello Tasha!

In order to convert a course to HTML5 using Articulate, you'll need the source file. Do you have the original .story file available?
