Storyline - URL Links Are Changing When I Publish

I've built a base storyline as a guided flow through a call model that links out to internal Policies & Procedures.  In the Storyline itself, all of the URLs show accurately.  But when I publish, the links mix up and don't go to where they are intended.

I.e. A link on a layer on every slide that goes to a page called "Resolving Disputes" changes upon publish to go to a separate Sharepoint page called "Voluntary Surrender", even though the storyline is accurate.

Has anyone encountered this?

  • Hi Andy,

Sorry to hear that you ran into this behavior.

I'm not seeing this issue being reported by other users, so this might be something that's specific to your environment. I'd like to ask a few questions to help clarify your experience:

    • Are you able to replicate the behavior when you preview your course?
    • How about when you publish to either web or Review 360?

If you're redirecting to files hosted on your servers, have you considered adding the files as resources to your project instead?

Additionally, would you be willing to share a copy of your project file here or in private by opening a support case so we can try to replicate the behavior? We'll delete it when we're done testing!

I have opened a support case.  To answer the question, the addresses appear as accurate in Storyline, but URLs don't launch in preview mode.  It's when I publish to Web, LMS, or Review that 2 of the links in particular change to other embedded URLs.

  • Hi Andy,

Great call opening a support case!

I see you're working with our colleague Ian. I'll pass along the answers you provided to Joe's questions in the case so that they are in the loop. You are in great hands!

We'll continue the conversation over in your support case.

Have a great start to your week!
