Storyline 360 – Buttons Don’t Feel Clickable Enough
Hey all!
I’ve created some custom buttons for navigation, but they don’t really feel interactive — users might not realize they can click them.
Any ideas to make buttons look or respond better (hover effects, sound, or animation) without overdoing it?

Hello,
One thing I do is put a drop shadow behind buttons. This gives them a little bit more of a 3-dimensional look, like you would expect from something you could push. I heard someone say once, "Buttons should look like buttons." I think the more they look 3-dimensional, the more they look like something can move when you press it and not 2-dimensional.

I'll second the drop shadow. I usually use a short "click" or "rise" sound -- freesound.org is a great place for sounds. I've also used states for when the button is selected, and also for showing that it's already been selected. Lastly, visual separation and short action-oriented phrases on the button help.
