Storyline 360 – How Do You Add Subtle Background Music Without It Overpowering Narration?
Hey everyone
I’m trying to add a soft background track under my narration in Storyline 360, but it keeps sounding too loud or cuts off weirdly between slides.
Is there a way to make it play smoothly across slides or fade in/out gently?
Looking for simple ways to balance music and voiceover.

While the audio editor in SL360 works for "quick fixes," this may not be a "quick fix," but you can try it.
Load the audio track into the story. Then click on it and launch the audio editor in the toolbar. In the editor, select all ("CTRL-A") to get the entire track. Then adjust the volume down by (say) 75% to a tolerable level.
If the volume is still too loud, then repeat the process (select all, change volume, reduce it again) until it's what you are looking for.
If you have an unusually loud track to begin with, though, you may be better off running that track through an audio tool like Audacity (free) to have a much lower volume to begin with.

ave you added as background audio, you can adjust the volume by adjusting the value of the variable

Here's the User Guide article about the background audio that Phil mentioned: https://www.articulatesupport.com/article/Storyline-360-Background-Audio
Personally, I recommend against background music. It can be distracting, especially to someone who doesn't like the chosen music. Unless it's providing content (for example, in a course about music), just having it as extra audio increases cognitive load.
