Storyline files showing with play button

Hi,

I've got a Rise course with a lot of SL files in it. The first slide of each contains no audio, yet I have a play button on it when the course is viewed on a mobile device.

My googling shows that this is 'intended' but seems crazy? Surely if it's just an image/flat slide it should show?

I can't have triggers on every slide to get the images to show, is there a way around this?

  • It should work if there aren't any mp3s or mp4s on the slide.

Out of interest. Have you tried adding a blank slide to the start of your project with a trigger that jumps to the first slide you want to display when the timeline reaches 0.5 secs? That would help rule out whether there is anything on your slide that's causing the issue.

Ah okay. Do you get the issue when viewing on both desktop and mobile devices?

  • Desktop is fine - I don't have an ipad to test on (but have asked a colleague). I had an issue with audio on slide 1 , which I did fix with the solution above, but this is showing on all plain slides.

Have you tried adding a course cover photo in Storyline? It might at least get around the black box issue, even if there is still a play button.

  • Thanks - but I don't want a play button on a static slide (it is confusing to users). If there's no workaround we'll have to get users to use a desktop (which is a slight mockery of the whole 'responsive' ethos)
