Storyline "task compliance" functionality

Hello all -- I'm not sure what is the best terminology for this, and "task compliance" is the best that I can come up with just now.

I am looking for a way to show a Learner how to do a task (e.g., put Screw #1 into Slot B), and then require that the Learner do that step correctly before the eLearning will move forward.  (Similar to Augmented Reality, but using the Storyline as the resource.)

Is there a mechanism or function within Storyline that can do "live reviews" like this?

I appreciate any suggestions.

Jennifer

  • There's nothing in Storyline that can do a live review of a task. Here are a couple of ideas:

    • Idea 1: At a previous place, we trained peer coaches to mentor trainees. They had a peer coach guide. You could create some sort of review guide with codes in them. The person demonstrates the task to someone (maybe their manager has the guide) and then they get a code they need to enter to advance through the course. This is a bit tedious, but depending on the task, may be worth the effort.
    • Idea 2: If the task is simple enough, I'd have them do teh task, then tell them to review the steps, and when done click and affirmation button that lets the course continue.
  • Great ideas, Mark!  I especially like the "code" approach.  I can see where I'd reserve that for specific tasks or procedures, due to the time involved, but I think that return on investment would be tremendous.

    Thank you for sharing!
