Storyline Zoom Region trigger Layer w/o button

I am trying to zoom in on different areas in my base layer and would like the timeline to trigger each layer with information without the user having to click a button. Here is what I would like to do:

Base layer plays and zooms in on region which triggers Layer A when the timeline reaches a Cue Point. (I added a second Cue Point after the Zoom Region so it Zooms out to where it should be as well.)

Layer A plays until end of timeline. That layer then should trigger back to the base layer (or user could use a back button).

Base layer resumes on timeline and Zooms into Region B, which triggers Layer B using Cue Points similar to above.

Layer B plays until end of Layer B timeline and then triggers back to base layer (or user could use Back Button.

Base layer resumes and Zooms into Region C , triggering Layer C, etc.

I have added so many triggers at this point, and tried so many combinations, but I still can't seem to find the right way to do this without using buttons on the base layer.

Is there a tutorial showing how to use the timeline and cue points without buttons to Zoom in and trigger layers? Right now it's very choppy and clunky.

  • Hi CaraParker,

    Happy to help!

I made some changes to your project file to achieve your design requirements.

    1. Disabled unnecessary triggers.
    2. Added missing triggers to automatically hide slide layers when the timeline of the layer ends.
    3. Adjusted slide layer properties so that the base layer is paused whenever a layer is shown.

I've attached an edited version of your file so you can see how the new slide behaves. If you preview the slide, the layers now automatically close and open depending on where you are in the timeline. Let me know if you have any questions!

Thank you so much! I ended up trying so many different things that I think I had left a lot of unnecessary triggers in there from "trial and error" (mostly "error")!😂

I appreciate the help more than you know!
