Superscript Not Properly Superscripting

Hello,

I have a consistent superscript problem in Storyline. Frequently, though not always, superscripting things like "TM" or the registered symbol will not go to the top of the line. Instead, it sits in the middle of the line and looks weird (see image).

How can this stop happening?

  • Hello Alexandra!

Thanks for reaching out! It looks like you've run into a bug that we already have logged. I see that we have a workaround documented which is to resize the text box. Are you seeing the same behavior when resizing the text box?

If we do ship a fix for this bug in an upcoming release, we'll be sure to update you in this discussion!

Related to this bug, but when we use Accessible Text in a project, ALL superscripts display oddly. The old "resize the box" fix no longer works when the boxes are generated dynamically. We use a ton of superscripts in our work, but also want to provide our readers with as much accessibility as possible. Can you let the team know that the old fix no longer works, and it is now a 100%-of-the-time issue when Accessible Text is activated?

      Hello Melissa,

I'm happy to chime in here! You're right. Using Accessible Text affects the textbox, which changes the superscripts' position, as reported in the related bug. I've added your case and comments to the bug report, including how the old workaround doesn't seem to work anymore. We'll update this post if any changes might help.

In the meantime, would you be willing to share your Storyline file with us so we can examine how using Accessible Text affects the bug's manifestation? We might also find possible workarounds. You may also share it privately by sending it along in a support case. We'll delete it when we're done testing.
