Hi Collin, and welcome to E-Learning Heroes. 😊
Thank you for reaching out. It sounds like you see what has been reported to our team; adding shape effects to text boxes is only reflected in Preview/Published modes, not when editing the slide.
I wanted to share some information on how we define bugs and tackle them when they occur.
As Maria mentioned above, we will share updates with you here when we are able.

Hi Libby!
I apologize for the issues you are having.
The bug reported and being worked on by our team is: adding shape effects to text boxes is only reflected in Preview/Published modes, not when editing the slide.
If that doesn't fit the same issue you are experiencing, could you share more details with us?

Will font effects be an option in the near future?
Hi Michele!
It sounds like you had questions about applying effects to the text itself in Storyline 360. Just to clarify, were you looking to achieve a similar goal that Jake mentioned earlier in this discussion?
If so, currently the only options available for text effects are: Bold, Italics, Underline, Shadow, Strikethrough, and Character Spacing.
A wider variety of font effects sounds like an interesting concept that I can share with our development team!
Thanks for reaching out! Please let me know if you have any more questions!
