Text Entry boxes not being created automatically in screen recordings

Hi Chris,

I see the same behavior - but it looks like I only get the hotspot when the area I clicked to type is offstage or outside the screen recording area. Is that what you're seeing? What type of item are you trying to record? 

Thanks Ashley. I have been entering text in a web form that is right in the middle of the recording area. 

Based on your response, I assumed the TEB should be added, so I did some more testing, and it appears the problem could have something to do with Google Chrome. I tried doing some recordings in Word, Outlook, and Internet Explorer, and SL generally included the TEBs where it should - though it was still a little inconsistent. I also was occasionally able to get a TEB in Chrome. So my perception is this functionality may be a bit buggy, bet less so if I record web forms using IE.

Google Chrome isn't the best option to conduct screen recordings in, based on how it reports information as documented here. I'd recommend Internet Explorer for the best results. 

I am having the same issue but I am using propriety software (a Java-based application).  My colleagues are not having the same issue despite recording from the same software.  Any idea why this might be and how I can get around this?

Thanks for letting us know that you are having a similar issue, but your colleagues are not.

Do you know what version of Storyline you're using? Is it the same as your colleagues?

We are currently on Build 3.48.24159.0 of Storyline 360. You can read all of the details here.

If you are on the latest and the same update, a repair of your software may be just what you need to get back up and run properly.

Unfortunately, my colleague is on Annual leave for a couple of weeks.  I can confirm that I am using that build of Storyline 3.  

In the meantime, I  will try a repair.

Do keep us posted if you're still having trouble after the repair. Our Support Team is standing by too - and they're happy to take a look at what you've got going on as well. 

I did try a repair to no effect.  My colleague is off for a fortnight and I am using the method suggested as a workaround for now.  Luckily this project does not need a lot of text inputs.

When Nic get back I will check with her and if we can't see any difference I will contact support.

Sadly we are both running the same version of Storyline.  I will log it with Support.
