When you published the course to LMS, which reporting option did you select?
If it's Passed/Failed, then as long as the user completes the course, it will be marked as completed, but with a success status of either Pass or Fail.
Changing it to either Completed/Incomplete (with no success status) or Passed/Incomplete should give you the reporting you are looking for.
