The latest time-wasting annoyance in Storyline
Hi EdwardAgadja170,
I hear you, this is especially frustrating when it breaks a workflow you’ve relied on for a long time.
In cases like this, copying and pasting triggers can sometimes behave inconsistently, particularly when triggers are tied to object IDs that don’t always carry over cleanly from one slide to another. When that happens, everything can look correct in the Triggers panel, but the logic simply doesn’t fire on that slide.
A couple of workarounds that often help in situations like this:
- Duplicate the entire slide instead of copying individual buttons or triggers. Duplicating preserves the original object and trigger relationships more reliably.
- If duplication isn’t an option, create a new slide and manually recreate one or two of the triggers to test whether newly built triggers behave correctly on that slide.
If the issue keeps happening on that same slide, the next step would be to take a look at the Storyline project itself. You’re welcome to share it here or privately through a support case, and we’ll delete the file when we’re done testing.
I know this kind of hiccup can feel like a big time drain, and I hope one of these steps gets you unstuck quickly.
