Triggers with Master Slide Placeholders
You can add triggers to a video placeholder. The attached file demonstrates triggers for what you want to do: pause the timeline when the user pauses a video by clicking it, and resume the timeline when the user resumes the video.
- Note: This won't work if you show the video controls. That's because the program doesn't count clicking the controls as clicking the video.
On a slide, you can reference the Master placeholders. However, you can't reference text boxes, shapes, or other objects that you insert directly in a Master.

Thanks Judy. Looks like I had the right idea, it just wasn't working with the first layout in the bunch. It's working correctly now :)
That's good to know about the placeholders vs. objects. I'll keep that in mind as I continue to design. I appreciate you taking the time to share!

You're welcome.
BTW, be aware that when you're editing a slide, you can't move text boxes, shapes, or other objects that you inserted directly in a Master.
Also, keep this in mind when designing a Master:
- Permanent objects don't appear on a slide's Timeline. Thus, you can't rearrange them. They will always appear below placeholders, even if they are above a placeholder on the Master timeline.
- Placeholders do appear on a slide's Timeline, so their arrangement and timing can be adjusted on a slide-by-slide basis.
