Trouble Adding More than One Button to Slide
New to storyline so thanks for any advice. Added three buttons to a slide and want to add different triggers to each. When I add a trigger to button 1, all the other buttons get that same trigger - even though all are named differently in the timeline.

The buttons are somehow corrupted. Erase them completely, close SL and start again. They should behave normally.

I erased all buttons on the slide. I added a button1 and added a trigger1 to it. The next button2 I create automatically gets the same trigger1 and same name as button1.
What's crazy is that when I add a button1 without doing anything - no triggers - and then add button 2 - they're both triggerless - when I put a trigger on button1, button2 auto gets the same trigger.

You need to start a new project to get away from this known button corruption.

I did start a new project - completely clean slide. I'm trying to do a scenario where I have two buttons. Each button goes to a different slide.
This also happens when I just try to put a trigger on a shape. I have two shapes - as soon as I put a trigger on one - the other one gets it too even though they are named different.

There is only one trigger on one shape in that screenshot. If you click on a shape it will highlight the trigger associated with it. One of those shapes (rectangle 1) has no trigger associated with it.

Looking at your other screenshot only button 1 has a trigger, I think you are getting confused with the trigger panel. You can see the name of the object in the trigger panel that has a trigger associated with it.

Thanks Phil - when I add a trigger to a shape or button - it adds the same trigger to the other shapes/buttons even though I have everything named differently. You'll notice in the attached screenshot I have added a trigger to Rectangle 1/Wrong Choice. If I then select Rectangle2/Right Choice - you can see in the triggers panel it auto added a trigger and it says Rectangle 1. No matter how many shapes or buttons I add, adding one trigger to one shape will add the same trigger to them all.

Hi, Jason.
Thank you for reaching out, and I'm glad Phil's been helping you with this as well!
If I understand correctly, what you're experiencing is the expected behavior. I created a Peek 360 recording with additional information.
Let me know if this helps!

Watch the video from Maria, I think you are just misinterpreting the trigger panel
