If you are willing to share a copy of your project file with me, I'll be glad to take a look at why you are unable to delete the objects that you mentioned. Do you mind attaching your project to this discussion or privately in a support case?
Additionally, one troubleshooting step that you can try is to import your slides over to a new project file to see if this helps.
