Upload to Wix or Google site

I use an FTP client (CuteFTP) and simply upload the whole project into a single folder on the server.  The links within the project are relative, so it should work just fine as long as you upload the published project as is.  I'll usually point to the story.html or create a launcher.html.

  I'm a noob, so I need more detail. I have created some interactive content using Publisher that I want very badly to put on my portfolio website. I was able to make a video of the presentation, but obviously a video only plays and users can't interact with it.

   At the risk of sounding completely clueless, I am going to pose the following questions. I have managed to figure out some of these answers, but the learning curve has been extremely, (and I feel unnecessarily) steep. I have even offered to pay for help with this, but everyone I ask is not familiar enough with Articulate to know what to do with it.

1. What is  an FTP client, and how do I get one?

2. Where do I find the server that I need to upload to?

3. Once it is uploaded onto the servers, how do I tell my website (Wix, in this case) to look for that folder or file?

4. If it is a single file in the folder, which file of the several that Articulate creates do I use?

I have been seen someone use iFrames to put published content into a website. (It was actually an LMS, but due to the limitations of that particular LMS, we were unable to publish directly to it.) After uploading to a server, he copied and pasted the URL of one of the files (I don't remember which one.) to a clipboard. He replaced ftp: at the beginning of the file name with http: (I think). He then inserted that code into a YouTube iframe (because he knows those work) and copied the entire iframe into his website. I can't seem to get that to work for me.

Any suggestions for me? Anyone? I'm starting to get very frustrated with this, because I don't even know if I'm asking the right questions at this point. Help!!! Thanks

If you don't have access to an ftp or web server, here are a few free options to consider:

• Tempshare: This is a free service provided by Articulate for testing Storyline content. Note: Uploaded files will be deleted after 10 days.
• Amazon S3: Amazon S3 offers free hosting with generous usage limits. If you go over your limit, you'll be charged a graduated fee.
• Dropbox: Place your published output in the Public folder in your Dropbox account to share it with others.
• Google Drive: Change the story.html file to index.html, and set the sharing permissions to Public. Here's how.

I'm struggling to launch to my Articulate Presenter presentation directly from Dropbox.  When I insert the link into my Wix website it points to a Dropbox page where the client needs to download the presentation.  I'd like them get directly to the presentation.  I followed the directions on Dropbox for a public folder, but that doesn't seem to work.  Any suggestions?  Can I upload Presenter to Google Drive and follow the directions above?

Hi Diane,

Are you publishing for "Web" and uploading all of the files to Dropbox? All of the presentation files need to be available on the Dropbox server in order for it to run. 

Also, from what you described, it sounds like you may not be pointing to the HTML file for the project. 

Which version of Presenter are you using for your project? If it's '09, you'll want to point to the player.html file. If you're publishing with '13, you'll want to point to the presentation.html file.

Here's what I am doing:

Upload my Studio 13 files to Dropbox.

Copy the presenter.html link

Go to Wix and insert the link on the highlighted text.

Do you think there are other steps that I am missing?  Is there another step that points to my file?

It does go the the Dropbox file, but then the client needs to download.  It does not launch directly to the presentation.

I'm afraid I don't have any other tips, as I have not personally used Wix to link to a course.

Have you tested the URL for the presentation (that's being hosted by Dropbox) outside of Wix? Does it load properly, instead of prompting or asking to download?

Diane, did you have any luck? I too am using Wix and I also want the file to play without downloading. I keep getting something that tells me that I can have a video, but that I need a url for the video. I simply want to put the project within the portfolio on my site.
