Video compression - Cannot turn it off
My video is MP4 processed in Camtasia. Settings are show below. These images are virtual world photos. The final video takes up very little space. But when I put it into Storyline, the option to change compression from Automatic is grayed out. All forum references I could find are very old, and they all say the same thing: this is the correct profile. The compression makes my video look like hot garbage. The other videos I put threw here are fine. Please advise.
Hi Virginia, and welcome to the E-Learning Heroes community!
I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing this issue, but I'm happy to help troubleshoot.
- You can turn off compression altogether for MP4 videos created with baseline, main, or high profiles. (All other videos will be compressed automatically.)
- If the Compression property is grayed out, it means your video was created with a different profile or it has been edited with Storyline's built-in video editor.
- Have you tried removing the video, importing your slides into a new Storyline file, and then adding the video again?
If you're comfortable sharing your file with us, we'd be happy to test it out to investigate further. You can share it here or privately in a support case. We'll delete it from our systems once troubleshooting is complete.

I tried it in Baseline (shown above), then the other two formats. It was the same for all of them; Compression property grayed out and hot garbage.
I will share the video with you privately. Hi Virginia,
Thanks for following up on this! I see that your case has been assigned to my teammate, Mcgem. You’re in great hands! You'll be receiving an email from them shortly and we can continue the conversation there.

Not everyone uses Camtasia, we use Premiere Pro to finetune our compression, and for most videos we can't choose compression (greyed out) and for a few we can...it makes no sense and this is not acceptable as Storylines compression-engine destroys the quality for most of our videos rendering them in many cases useless for learning-purposes.

I am in complete agreement. It is completely unacceptable, especially in my case with virtual world videos, which are TINY. While Articulate support was helpful, I should not have to ask for that sort of help. We should be able to make that decision for ourselves.
