Where 64-bit application?
Don't know why there is still only a 32-bit application available. What is this August 2001? Here we are 18 years later and with 64-bit multi-core processors. I don't even think that this application utilizes all cores on even a Ryzen 7 (have not tried it - that is my gaming computer).
Where is the 64-bit app -- in "development Hell"???
Hi Everyone!
Great news! I'm happy to share that we just released Storyline 360 (version 3.82.31354.0), which includes a new 64-bit version of Storyline 360! Harness the processing power in modern computers with 64-bit Storyline 360. Large, media-rich courses benefit from increased stability and faster performance!
To use 64-bit Storyline 360, please update your Articulate 360 desktop app, then click the Install button next to the Storyline 360 app with the 64-bit and beta labels. The Install button will change to an Open button when the installation is complete.
This was highly requested, so we hope it serves you in your course creation! If you run into any snags, don't hesitate to contact our team in a support case.

Hello, jumping into this conversation to see if there have been any updates on this front as it relates to offering a 64-bit version of Storyline.

Hi Trey
I'm afraid not. We are all in my team having regular out of memory issues and random crashes due to most likely the limitations of the 32 bit system.
I have raised tickets on this subject and have had numerous emails on trying to fix our problems, but they are all work arounds and have not fixed the problems.
They seem unwilling to fix the core problem, which is very disappointing for such a popular product.

This whole thread has been comical. I guess we aren't getting 64 bit. Its been about 10 years since the first ask for 64 bit.

I hope they make it a priority too. Adobe Captivate has had a 64-bit version I believe since version 6 almost 10 years ago, so hopefully we will get a version soon ;0)

Hi I wonder if there's been any word about Articulate prioritising the development of a 64 bit version yet?
Without an update to 64, It looks like it will make storyline 3 totally useless for anyone who has bought a new Apple Mac with the M1 chip, forcing customers to switch to alternative authoring tools that are 64, such as Adobe Captivate.
If anyone could point me in the right direction to relevant threads then that would be much appreciated, as the lack of discussion around this does seem quite bizarre!
Thanks, Leo

Artifex, you aren't exatly right about that, Macs have been 64 bit for a while now, long before the M1 was introduced.
There's other "architecture translation" things going on here, but yes, until Parallels and VMware fusion don't deliver the versions that run Windows on M1 Macs, one can easily claim, that Storyline does not run on Apple's latest machines.

Hi Nejc, thanks for the input but I think you misinterpreted what I was saying, as I never said Macs are 32 bit. They switched from 32 to 64 about 15 years ago.
The m1 technical preview programme for parallels often crashes 32 bit programmes. The presumption that Parallels or VMware will run 32 bit storyline 3 without any issues (including unacceptable loading times in 2021), doesn't fill me with too much confidence.
If you're part of the technical preview programme for M1 parallels then keen to discuss further via message, we can then relay any relevant information on this thread.
Thanks, Leo

Leo have you tried Storyline on an M1?

Hey, Leo, thanks for the extra details. I am not in the preview yet and I don't own an M1 Mac yet, I am carefully waiting to see what will happen, before I purchase one ...

Wise move I'd say! The M1 is pretty impressive and works like a dream for native apps, but will also be waiting eagerly for updates on VM compatibility before using it for any sort of development.

I take it still no update with 64 bit implementation? Had 3 crashes today losing out on a few hours worth of work, for no apparent reason whilst only utilising a minimal amount of RAM on offer.
Very disappointing for a seemingly high end piece of software...

I wonder if it’s even in development? If the next version of Windows cuts off 32 bit apps like macOS did, that’s a huge problem.
- MatthewMcCroreyCommunity Member
As for now, it looks like windows 11 will still support 32-bit apps, even though windows itself will be 64-bit only.
- NiallMackenzie-Community Member
Yeah it's pretty worrying...
Surely it must be a priority for them?!
