Why do some files publish with a start page and others don't?

I'm updating some of our courses. Some open to the course directly, and others have a start page with the play button. I've republished some of the courses with the play button, and it still opens to that screen.

I used the Quiz Game template to see if I can determine what's happening. I figured it was originally published in SL 2 or 3 with a flash option, then updated to 360. The publish options currently include the slider for html5 & flash. I copied the first slide to a new project, published, and get the start screen. (Note - I've done this with both import and just copying the slide). This project is CopiedOver

I re-created the first slide, added in the variables, a results slide, triggers as they are in the original, etc. This project doesn't have a start screen. This project is FromScratch. Any ideas why this happens? I've uploaded both in Review 360.

Any thoughts on this will be most welcome!

  • "CopiedOver" has audio on its first slide. Nowadays, browsers often require the user to click a Play button to indicate that it's okay to play the audio (or video).

Your "FromScratch" file doesn't have any audio or video on its first slide. That's why the Play button doesn't appear.

  • Holy smokes, it's the simple things that will kill you! Thanks so much Judy! That helps tremendously!

    Have an awesome day.
