Why is Storyline not responding to a trigger where the user presses a key?

Another week, another inexplicable problem in Storyline that causes frustration and wastes a lot of precious time. I'm all too used to it by now. In the latest episode, the trigger for whatever reason doesn't function even though I've specified a value that needs to be entered in the text entry for the next layer to show. The text entry value matches as it did in other slides, but this time--go figure--it doesn't work.

I can't share the example because it contains sensitive information, and I can't waste my time creating a version with everything wiped. Any history of this happening among other fellow sufferers? 

EDIT: Want to clarify that the reason it doesn't work is because instead of moving to the next layer, when a user presses the Enter key after typing in the required value into the text entry, they just go to the next line or whatever inside the text entry (as is traditional with the Enter key). It's very weird that this worked before though and is just acting bizarre now...
