When My Brain Says Nope

I went with the tried-and-true instructional designer test topic of time management, but gave it a twist by designing it specifically for a tween audience.

Lately, I’ve been exploring the idea of turning the “Next” button into more than just a navigation tool. Given this week's theme, I used it throughout as a mini moment of reflection. A way to offer learners a quick pause to consider their own habits before moving on. It’s not a fit for every screen in every learning, but it can make things feel more personal. I paired these mini reflection moments with a longer text entry interaction at the end, which could work well as an introductory reflection exercise for tweens.

The layout and graphics were inspired by Canva, and while I’m still on the fence about the color palette I chose, it was a fun design exercise.

  • Love the design and especially the way you've used the 'Next' buttons - it really did encourage me to reflect before continuing!

  • I like very much the animations you used, the design, and the way you invite learners to reflect. Well done!
