Rise Quiz Results

Dec 01, 2016

Is there a way to have quiz results sent to your account email address or results saved in an area for review? Once distributing the course/quiz I created to our company, we will need to know if staff are passing and/or failing? Thanks for all your help!

Hi Sophia,

The tracking of results and any notifications to a course administrator is something that is handled by a Learning Management system and as such there isn't anything baked into Rise (or our other authoring tools) to handle that. Do you know which LMS you'll be using to host the content? Any LMS that supports SCORM 1.2, 2004 or AICC would work. You may also want to take a look at this article on how to share your Rise course.

Hi Ashley and Sophia,

To follow up on this question: what kind of information could be tracked if one would share a SCORM package of a Rise learning product on a Moodle or Totara LMS? Is this limited to the amount or percentage of completion? Or does it also contain data such as amount of answers right/wrong, completion time etc,?

Hi, Paul.

At present, Rise will send the score (if tracking by Quiz Result), and the completion status.  You can set the completion percentage when exporting the course, and when the user reaches that point in the course they’ll be marked complete.  You can take a Peek at that (courtesy of Alyssa) here.

We're also working on building question-level details into Rise's LMS output, and you'll get this as soon as it's ready.

If you'd like to take a detailed look at exactly what Rise is sending to the LMS, you could enable LMS Debug Mode and watch all of the communication between Rise and Moodle firsthand!

Hi Mahalia,

This feature has been on our list for a bit, although some timelines have shifted, it's still an important feature for us and one we're working on!

As a feature moves closer and closer to finished we're able to offer an ETA for release, but I don't have any info to share on that today. Discussions like this one are tagged so that once we've got more to share we can pop back in here! So as long as you're subscribed you should see the email notification.

A related question.

There are two options in Rise 360 scorm package development screen. And inly one is clickable

either a completion percentage or a quiz result. Does that mean whenever we choose the "completion percentage", the quiz score of our participants will not be tracked and vice versa?

What if we need both the completion tracking plus the quiz score.

We have currently selected the completion % option. But our moodle scorm report does show a column for score. Could that display the quiz score as well?

Hi Adam,

We just released the feature to Require Passing Score to Continue in Rise.  You can see more details on this here. This setting only impacts Quizzes in Rise (not knowledge checks).

I hope that helps with your courses, and let us know what other features you'd like to see in Rise!

Hi Chris,

No ETA yet for this feature, but in the meantime, you may want to check out Storyline 360! We do have the question-level reporting set up there, and it may also fit your needs. The great this about Articulate 360, you have access to all the tools and here's some insight into how pros use Storyline vs. Rise!

Hi I am using Litmos as the LMS and have uploaded a Rise course using "Track using quiz result" set to 70% and attempts x 2 with the "require passing score to continue" selected.

My issue is if the learner exceeds the amount of attempts the course does not display the "re-take quiz" instruction but is blank.

As the quiz needs to be passed to continue they cannot move on and are in a never ending loop .

All I can do as admin is reset their status to Passed/complete and ask them to retake it, but why would they they, the course is now showing as passed!

To make this work I have to set the amount of attempts to unlimited then at least it would be possible for them to pass, but not sure if they actually learnt anything as they just keep clicking different combinations!

Any ideas?

Thanks

Ivor

Hi there, Ivor.  Thanks for describing your setup.  When your learners contact you after hitting the limit on quiz attempts, it sounds like you don't have an option to reset their status in the LMS to something other than passed.  Were you able to confirm with your LMS support folks if there's a way to give your learner a fresh attempt?

Course administrators will typically use the "require passing score" feature paired with the "limit quiz attempts" feature to check in with learners who might be struggling with their content.  If you'd like them to be able to move on after a number of attempts, even if they don't pass, you can uncheck the option to require learners to pass.
