Display Exact Timestamp at Playhead Position on Timeline
Idea:
Show the exact timestamp wherever the playhead is positioned on the timeline, for example when hovering over or selecting the playhead.
Current limitation:
There is no clear way to see the precise timestamp at the playhead position on the timeline. Authors must estimate timing or rely on trial and error when positioning objects, media, or triggers.
This becomes especially difficult when:
- Working with precise trigger timings
- Synchronising audio, animations, or media
- Adjusting pause/play trigger points
Without an exact timestamp, fine-tuning timing requires repeated adjustments and previewing.
Suggested improvement:
Display the exact time at the current playhead position. This could include:
- A tooltip showing timestamp on hover over the playhead
- A persistent timestamp display when the playhead is selected
- Optional snapping or marker alignment based on time
- Integration with trigger timing for precise placement
Use case:
When aligning triggers, animations, or audio, authors can position the playhead at an exact time and confidently place elements without guesswork. This is particularly useful when planning where to add pause media triggers.
Benefit:
- Improves timing accuracy
- Reduces trial-and-error adjustments
- Speeds up development workflow
- Enhances precision for complex slide interactions
