When an image is used as a fill for a shape or button in Articulate Storyline, the image is automatically added to the Media Library with a generated name such as image_01.png, image_02.png, etc. This means the original file name is lost, which makes it much harder to identify images later—especially in larger projects with many UI graphics. In many workflows, developers carefully name their assets before importing them (for example btn_next_hover.png, btn_next_disabled.png, etc.). When Storyline replaces those names with generic ones, that structure disappears in the Media Library. Example workflow In template-based projects, it is common to use image fills for buttons or shapes that represent different UI states (normal, hover, selected, disabled). When reviewing or updating the project later, the Media Library may contain dozens of files named image_01.png, image_02.png, etc., making it difficult to locate the correct asset. Suggested improvement When an image is inserted as a shape or button fill, Storyline should preserve the original file name in the Media Library instead of renaming it to image_XX.png. Benefits Easier asset management in larger projects Faster identification of images in the Media Library Better alignment with common design and development workflows More efficient maintenance of templates and UI components This would be a relatively small change but a significant usability improvement for developers working with image-based UI elements.4Views1like0CommentsStoryline Characters pared with Voices
It would be great if the character models could record their own voices, so if an eLearning Developer chooses that character, they could also use their voice. For instance, if the developer chooses Atsumi it can be pared with Atsumi's actual voice.85Views0likes3CommentsUpdated photogenic characters
Hello! I use photogenic characters quite often in my Storyline courses. I only have a few I use now because a lot of them have outdated clothing and hairstyles. I was wondering if new characters are added periodically? I've been photoshopping my own from stock sites to make them have a transparent background but it's a bit of a time waster. I see new illustrated characters added from time to time but that doesn't match the realistic look I use in my courses. Any response would be appreciated!18Views0likes1CommentScenes Panel Title Wrap
I don't know about anyone else but the titles of my slides generally have more than 2 words in them. Even when zoomed in to max I'm unable to differentiate slides at a glance most of the time (hovering still requires a click to activate the window and then moving over each slide so it is not 'at a glance') over on the left side Scenes Panel. Asking for an update that allows the Scenes Panel to have a view option that mirrors the Player Properties > Menu > Menu Options of "Wrap long menu item titles" please please please.14Views0likes1CommentStoryline Objects in Custom Blocks
Hi Articulate: The new custom blocks are great. I really appreciate what we can do with them. I also really appreciate the interactive elements of using Storyline. Would it be possible to include Storyline Objects in a Custom Block? This would be a game changer if possible. Would you please investigate the possibility of this? Thanks and regards Alexander Young Toronto13Views0likes0CommentsDrop-Down Menus to Simulate Filling Out a Form
I searched for something like this when I first started working with Storyline. I saw many suggestions on how to make a drop-down menu using layers, which would not work for the forms I needed to duplicate. Here Is what I have been using ever since. My dream would be to have an automated version of this in Storyline someday. If someone knows a simpler way, I would love to know how you make them. Create individual rectangles with your menu choices. Name the rectangles as "Menu- description." Set them to the hidden state Make sure that each one has a hover state Arrange them down the screen in the order you want them to appear Create individual rectangles with your answer choices. Name the rectangles as "Ans- description." Set them to the hidden state Don't use a hover state on these Arrange them one on top of the other so you have a single pile of all of them Decide what you want the original button to say, such as Select, and stack this on the top of the answer choice pile and set it to the normal state. Name it "Ans- Select." Add a Hotspot on top of the stack of answer choices.. Set up the triggers. I will give the instructions for a 3-menu question. You click on the hotspot and all the menu items appears below Use "Change the state of Menu- option 1 to normal, when the user clicks on Hotspot Question 1." Create this trigger for each menu item you created (Menu- Option 2 and 3). You click on a menu item and the menu items become hidden, the correct answer is changed to a normal state and shows under the hotspot, and the incorrect answers change to the hidden state. Use "Change the state of Menu- option 1 to hidden, when the user clicks on Menu- option 1. You will need to do this for every menu option you have (Menu- option 2 and 3). Use "Change the state of Ans- option 1 to normal when the user clicks on Menu- option 1." Use "Change the state of Ans- option 2 to hidden when the user clicks on Menu- option 1." Create this for Ans- Option 3. If you want to pinpoint incorrect answers when the person clicks on a Submit button, I like to place a rectangle with a see-through yellow color to highlight the answers that need to be corrected. Name it "Highlight Q1" [Q1 = question 1] Set the highlight rectangle to the state of Hidden. Create a trigger "Change the state of Highlight Q1 to normal when the user clicks the submit button if the state of Ans- option 1 is hidden." [option 1 is the correct answer] Create a trigger "Change the state of Highlight Q1 to hidden when the user clicks the submit button if the state of Ans- option 1 is not hidden." [Don't use "normal" instead of "not hidden." It works most of the time but if it's not working this is the fix. Thank you to the late Walt who said we all have different definitions of what is normal!] If you have to make multiple drop-down menus on the same page, make sure the questions at the bottom of the screen are in the timeline under the ones above them. When working in Storyline, I constantly move from slide to slide as I am creating. The panel on the left of my screen shows a thumbnail of about 6 slides. When editing I need to move from slide to slide by clicking on the thumbnail, but Storyline keeps moving the position of the thumbnails and I inadvertently click on the incorrect slide. Is there a way to stop Storyline from moving these thumbnails up and down? They should stay where I put them.125Views1like7Comments360 Image Editing - Marker Button Icons
Can you add the ability: To upload your own icons via an image upload (currently restricted to content library) Change the icon colour (currently restricted to white, so if wanted a yellow button, the icon is nearly invisible) Add different shaped buttons (currently restricted to circles)32Views0likes3CommentsAI Voices
It would be nice if we could alter the voice more, similar to Azure Voice Studio. For example, I am using Rachel on a project and halfway through I'm finding she is too monotone, causing me to hit generate several times before I can get her to not sound depressed. If there was a mood exaggerator button such as "upbeat" or "calm", that would greatly improve the experience of trying to get them to sound accurate for the content. The voice is capable of sounding realistic, but the time it takes to get there seems unproductive.12Views0likes0Comments
