Idea: When previewing a scene or project in Storyline 360, it would be very helpful to display the current slide number and timeline time counter as an optional overlay. Problem During Preview mode, developers cannot see: Which slide is currently playing within the scene The timeline position (e.g. current time vs total duration) This makes it difficult to: Test timing-dependent interactions (e.g. video pauses, animations, cue points) Debug trigger behaviour accurately Align media playback with on-screen events Identify exactly where issues occur without switching back to Edit view Suggested solution Add a toggleable overlay in Preview mode that displays: Slide number (e.g. Slide 2 of 8) Timeline time (e.g. 00:12 / 01:05) Optional enhancements: Show cue point markers as they are reached Enable via a simple checkbox in Preview settings Visible only in Preview (not in published output)8Views0likes1Comment'Restore' Emphasis Animation
Emphasis animations have become a staple of my workflow and I absolutely love them, but with the new addition of Tilt, Tilt and Grow, and Float, we need a way to restore our object back to their original state after triggering the animation. Currently this works with Grow and Shrink, but there is no pairing like that for the three I mentioned above. This feature will work when triggering the animation on hover, as you get an automatic 'restore when the user hovers out' option in the trigger panel, but there is no way to do this when you trigger the animation using other methods like 'when user clicks'. Not having the ability to restore the object back down to its original state severely limits the usability of these new amazing animations. Thank you for your consideration!97Views2likes3CommentsText-To-Speech on All Slides at Once
Hello! I'd like to suggest a future enhancement that allows a Storyline user to add text to speech audio to all slides with notes at once. This would be a big efficiency gain for anyone who uses the notes for the transcript. While it is already helpful to just click the button to create text to speech from the slides notes, it would be significantly quicker if we could get a prompt or something similar such as "would you like to insert text to speech audio using this voice on every slide in this scene / project that has existing slide notes?"15Views0likes1CommentEdit Course in Separate Window While Previewing
Idea: Provide the ability to continue editing a Storyline project in one window while previewing the course in another. Current limitation: When previewing, the main Storyline interface is locked, preventing any edits until the preview is closed. This becomes a major issue for larger courses—some projects can be 300–400 slides long. If an error is spotted during preview, you must: Close the preview Navigate back to the relevant slide Make the correction Re-render the entire preview again This repetitive process significantly slows development and interrupts workflow. Suggested improvement: Allow preview to open in a separate, independent window while keeping the editing environment active. This would enable authors to: Make real-time adjustments while previewing Fix issues immediately without restarting preview Work more efficiently on large and complex courses Use case: While testing triggers, animations, variables, or navigation across a long course, authors can instantly correct issues without breaking their testing flow. Benefit: Saves significant time on large projects Eliminates repetitive preview cycles Improves productivity and user experience for developers12Views0likes1CommentCustom Gradients & Styles
I would like the ability to save custom gradients. I could see them being added to Gradient Fill > Preset Colours. Although, being able to save them to a colour palette would be even handier. I would also like the ability to save custom styles. Saving them with states would be handiest, although creating a gallery of them that includes each of the state styles would also work. Currently we have the ability to save text styles, but we need the same for shapes.84Views0likes3CommentsVideo Transparency in Storyline
Currently, I can place an image on a timeline and then place a video "above" it. I can animate the video to fade in so that the image shows through for a time before becoming fully non-transparent and blocking the image. Since the code seems already built to fade/make transparent a video, can a setting be added that allows the video fade int to be frozen at a certain point so it remains transparent for the entire slide?15Views0likes0CommentsDisplay Exact Timestamp at Playhead Position on Timeline
Idea: Show the exact timestamp wherever the playhead is positioned on the timeline, for example when hovering over or selecting the playhead. Current limitation: There is no clear way to see the precise timestamp at the playhead position on the timeline. Authors must estimate timing or rely on trial and error when positioning objects, media, or triggers. This becomes especially difficult when: Working with precise trigger timings Synchronising audio, animations, or media Adjusting pause/play trigger points Without an exact timestamp, fine-tuning timing requires repeated adjustments and previewing. Suggested improvement: Display the exact time at the current playhead position. This could include: A tooltip showing timestamp on hover over the playhead A persistent timestamp display when the playhead is selected Optional snapping or marker alignment based on time Integration with trigger timing for precise placement Use case: When aligning triggers, animations, or audio, authors can position the playhead at an exact time and confidently place elements without guesswork. This is particularly useful when planning where to add pause media triggers. Benefit: Improves timing accuracy Reduces trial-and-error adjustments Speeds up development workflow Enhances precision for complex slide interactions10Views0likes0CommentsAutomatically Insert AI Audio onto Timeline After Generation
Idea: Automatically place AI-generated audio directly onto the timeline after it is created, removing the need for a separate insert step. Current limitation: After generating AI audio, the file is not automatically added to the timeline. Authors must manually insert the audio, which adds unnecessary steps to the workflow. This becomes repetitive and inefficient when: Creating narration across multiple slides Iterating on audio content Working on large courses with many voiceovers The extra “Insert” step interrupts flow and slows down development. Suggested improvement: Automatically drop generated AI audio onto the current slide timeline immediately after creation. Optional enhancements could include: Placing the audio at the start of the timeline by default A toggle setting (auto-insert on/off) for user preference Use case: When generating narration for slides, authors can instantly preview timing and make adjustments without needing to manually insert the audio each time. Benefit: Removes unnecessary manual steps Speeds up audio creation workflow Improves efficiency when working at scale Creates a smoother, more intuitive authoring experience8Views0likes0CommentsShow Trigger Points for Media Pause/Play on the Timeline or ...
Idea: Provide the ability to accurately see and test “Pause media when timeline reaches” and “Play media when timeline reaches” triggers directly on the timeline without needing to preview the slide. Current limitation: When using “Pause media when timeline reaches” and “Play media when timeline reaches” triggers, these do not function when playing the timeline within the editor. The media only pauses and resumes correctly in Preview mode. This creates a major usability issue because: The preview window does not display a visible timeline or timestamps It is difficult to determine the exact point where media pauses or resumes Fine-tuning trigger positions requires repeated trial and error As a result, authors must: Add or adjust a trigger on the timeline Open Preview mode Observe roughly when the pause/play occurs Close Preview Adjust the trigger again Repeat the process multiple times This significantly slows down development, especially when working with precise timing. Suggested improvement: Enable pause/play media triggers to function when playing the timeline in the editor. Additionally, provide visual indicators of these trigger points. This could include: Trigger markers displayed directly on the timeline Media pausing/resuming during timeline playback in edit mode Optional timestamp or tooltip showing exact trigger timing Ability to scrub and test timing without entering Preview OR if add a timer in the Preview window Use case: When synchronising narration, screen recordings, or animations, authors can precisely position pause and play triggers without repeatedly entering preview mode. Benefit: Speeds up timing adjustments and testing Improves accuracy when synchronising media Reduces reliance on Preview mode Enhances overall workflow efficiency for developers13Views0likes0CommentsAbility to Change Pace/Speed of AI Voice
Idea: Provide the ability to adjust the pace or playback speed of AI-generated voiceovers within Storyline. Current limitation: AI voice narration currently plays at a fixed speed, with limited or no control over pacing. This can create challenges when aligning narration with on-screen content. In video content courses the narration may feel too fast or too slow and difficult to match to/flow with the audio. Suggested improvement: Introduce controls to adjust AI voice speed directly within Storyline. This could include: Adjustable playback speed (e.g. 0.75x, 1x, 1.25x, 1.5x) Fine-tuned speed control via a slider Option to apply settings globally or per slide Real-time preview of speed changes Use case: When creating narration for system training or complex instructions, authors can slow down/speed up speech. Benefit: Provides greater control over timing and pacing Reduces the need for rework or external audio editing Enhances accessibility for different learning preferences22Views0likes0Comments
