Note Block in Rise

I have been investigating the options available with the new custom block feature in Rise.

It certainly provides the capability to create more impactful elements for courses built with Rise.

I have, however, discovered an issue with the new custom blocks that is at odds with standard Rise blocks.

The image below is a screen shot of a standard Note block and one I created using the  custom block feature. Clearly the custom version has more appeal than the standard version.

However, when you view the same blocks on a smartphone (portrait view) the custom block is not responsive. The text on the custom block is too small to read.

Unless, I have missed an existing option to make custom blocks responsive, could we please have this ability? If this is not possible, then greater options to format note blocks would be an improvement.

Cheers

  • Hi DavidBaird-5911,

Thanks for sharing this detailed comparison and for including the screenshots! You are right about what you are seeing. Custom blocks currently use a fixed layout, which means they do not reflow text the same way standard Rise blocks do. On smaller screens, that can make the text appear smaller and harder to read.

This is not something you missed. It is a known limitation with the current custom block implementation. Our team is aware of the issue and is looking at ways to improve responsiveness and accessibility for custom content so it behaves more like the built-in blocks.

I really appreciate you taking the time to surface this with such clear examples. It helps us make Rise better for everyone.
