In the Moment--Icons in B&W

When I saw this challenge I thought about how perfect black and white photography can be, so I decided to create a demo that feels like a coffee table book of Norman Seeff's work. His photography captured icons of music and culture during the 1970s and 80s. Many of his subjects were photographed in the heights of their fame. Sadly, many of them are no longer with us. I usually embellish my demos with sound and music, but I felt

  • Hello JodiSansone . I had never heard of Norman Seeff. Thanks for the discovery. On this occasion, we realize that most of these American artists belong to global pop culture (and therefore to the power of US soft power), with the exception of Merle Haggard and Carly Simon, who are completely unknown to me. So double thanks for the double discovery.

Thank you  for taking a look. I'm very rusty on my Community manners and havent kept up with my respnses. Carly Simon was big in the 70s in the USA. She is probably best known for two songs, You're So Vain and a James Bond theme Nobody Does it Better from the Spy Who Loved Me. She was connected to Playboy Founder Hugh Hefner and married James Taylor. Very 70s stuff. ;)  Haggard was a country music star. Not my genre but I liked the composition of that photo, especially the peeling fruit. ;)

  • Hello Jodi. This is wonderful!  So nice to see the exquisite photography of these artists, especially the ones from my era. Also so special to use Norman Seeff's work - I am from South Africa and Norman left South Africa long ago and is now regarded as an American. I don't think there are many in this country knowing Norman Seeff, But thanks for the enjoyable coffee table book!

Thank you. This is my era too. In fact I remember seeing some of this photography as a teen in Rolling Stone magazine and on album covers. After I saw your comment I hoped I didn't misrepresent the artist's South African origin and claim he was American, though I think he still lives in California. I would have enjoyed being in one of those photo sessions. ;)
