Well said Lori_Morgan! I'm curious—what are some of the instructional design principles you think apply to UX, and vice versa?

Noele_Flowers I believe instructional and UX design share several important principles. Here are three that stand out:
- User-focused design – Intentional research and analysis of users’ needs and behaviors help create engaging, effective products and solutions.
- Feedback – Products and solutions that provide immediate, meaningful feedback through visual cues and notifications, guide users through tasks while enhancing understanding, motivation, and engagement.
- Accessibility – Ensuring a positive experience for all users is challenging but essential. It broadens your user base, builds trust, and adds value.
Of course, there are many other principles worth discussing! What do you think? I’d love to hear your thoughts and the community’s perspectives on how instructional and UX design align or differ.

It would be cool to start a conversation in Connect > Exchange Best Practices about this—I'm not a UX designer myself and don't actually have a ton of expertise in that, but I can totally see these overlaps from what I do know.
What's interesting is that for me as someone who is a community expert, the overlaps I see and notice are around the similarities between community best practices and L&D best practices. I think best practices in both really focus on how for adult learners, they need opportunities to really interact with information in order to learn it, not just read it.
I also see overlaps in what you bulleted out above here in the community management world!
So, all this to say, I'm interested in how many best practices overlap across all of these different people-facing disciplines.
