Soon to be transitioning from teaching
Hi everyone,
I'm Michele. I'm a teacher in a New Jersey public school and will soon be transitioning into a new, exciting career in Instructional Design.

MicheleMahon, welcome! I'm actually a former public school teacher myself—Queens, NY, so not too far from you either :) I know there are a ton of folks here who have made that career transition, so you're in good company. (Tagging in a few that came up when I searched around in the community for it a bit, who may want to welcome you & wish you congratulations on this career pivot: ChadGuess, MeganMcVittie-6, ScottJost, MattMadsen, DavidFothergill).
I'm curious—as you make this pivot, what's the biggest thing you're expecting you'll have to learn to bridge the gap between classroom teaching and instructional design?- MattMadsenCommunity Member
Congrats! Do you have a day job lined up or are you going to be freelancing?
Hi MicheleMahon! Welcome welcome! Same as Noele, I also started in the world of education and then transitioned into learning and development. What an exciting shift to be making!
I noticed you mentioned you're newer to instructional design, and I wanted to invite you to join an upcoming lightweight program I'm running for 4 weeks beginning July 7. It's all about getting started in an instructional design role. You can check out more information in this registration form! Would love to have you join!
