Tutorials: Show Quiz Attempts with Hints in Drag-and-Drop Interactions
This quick tip is really handy for showing learners exactly how many attempts they have left and providing specific feedback for each missed attempt. And since we’re counting attempts, we’ll need some help from Storyline’s number variables.
- Using number variables to track each quiz attempt.
- Displaying the number of remaining attempts.
- Show custom feedback based on each try.
Project File
- Download the Storyline 360 project file.

Version 2.0- JenifferBrubakeCommunity MemberI used %attemptcount% in several of my older courses to control the "Try Again" and "Incorrect" popups, but %attemptcount% does not appear as a variable in new projects. I have been copying and pasting it from old projects and it works. Is that a bad idea or could it cause problems in newer projects since it no longer appears to be a valid variable?
