Hi everyone! 👋 For this week's challenge, I decided to gamify the classic "Instructional Designer eye twitch" moments we've all experienced during project kick-offs. Welcome to Mission: Survive the Stakeholder! In this short interaction, you play as a project manager meeting with Alex, your ID. Your goal is to choose the right things to say to get the project moving without causing his stress meter to max out. Behind the scenes: Visuals: I generated the 3D Pixar-style character states using AI to capture those perfect, relatable expressions of creeping panic. The Tech: To make the stress meter feel fluid, I built a custom HTML/CSS/JS interaction and embedded it as a Web Object in Storyline. The custom slider is dynamically synced with the background video, so Alex's reactions update smoothly in real-time as your score changes. You can play the demo here: Mission: Survive the Stakeholder I had so much fun putting this together. I’d love to hear your thoughts! Did you manage to keep Alex calm, or is he currently updating his resume? 😂Can One Click Trigger a Cyberattack?
In today’s digital workplace, a single mistake can lead to serious business disruption. That’s why we developed a Scenario-First Cyber Awareness Activity that places learners inside a realistic cyberattack situation. Help your workforce learn how to spot threats, make safe decisions, and protect critical business data. This is my first E-Learning Heroes Challenge! My small team of 2 recently switched from Captivate to Articulate in December. This short scene is a current project I am working on for our emergency procedures training. I included the whole scene, not just the scenario. Hello! Another tongue-in-cheek demo, with a serious message. But I don't recommend that you take this passive-aggressive route to explain gamification to your boss... This demo is built around an oversized slider, which is animated using rapid state changes controlled by Javascript. Video sections created in Powtoon. Any questions, please ask. I promise I won't turn you into a computer game character in a burning building. Try it for yourself here: https://bit.ly/elhc542
Lucifer Industries
Hello! I've always been fond of 'Start Late, Leave Early' - dropping learners into an unfamiliar scenario, testing their existing skills and knowledge, and only offering correction if they fail. So it's back to my favourite fictional workplace, Lucifer Industries, to test their evacuation procedures... This is a tongue-in-cheek way of illustrating how you can flip the script, ditch the learning objectives, and have the learner figure out what to do. The videos were created using Powtoon's AI text to video feature, and edited in Camtasia. https://bit.ly/elhc538

Emily just presented what she thinks is the perfect solution. But the room went silent. One colleague's arms crossed. Another looked away. The team is divided, and momentum is stalling. What would you do? The Idea I was inspired by Emily in Paris, a show about navigating messy, real conflicts with style and empathy. So I created a scenario-based learning experience where learners step into her shoes and make decisions that actually matter. Instead of starting with learning objectives, the course opens with a problem. Two stakeholders. Opposing viewpoints. Time to choose your move. The best way to learn is by doing. I could have made this longer but ran out of time. Originally, I wanted the scenarios to be videos but Veo 3.1 (Google Gemini) did not do what I wanted even though I used promptcowboy.ai for help. While some of the results were hysterically wrong, I couldn't use them. 😂 I used characters from Articulate, redressed and reposed them in Nano Banana (Google Gemini) and made them transparent with MS Designer, Articulate TTS, and the golf photos are mine (slide 1 is Yeamans Hall, Charleston, SC, 14th Hole - a great example of a Knoll hole, and the other background is Orchards Golf Club, South Hadley, Mass - probably the 6th hole lol I'm not 100% certain). https://360.articulate.com/review/content/6daebfc6-c8a5-4f7f-afc2-41b6e291ba22/reviewGas Turbine Operator Scenario
For this week’s eLearning Heroes Challenge, I skipped the usual upfront learning objectives and started with a real-world scenario instead. The course opens during a gas turbine startup. Learners step into the role of the operator as things seem normal… until they’re not. A few warning signs appear, decisions are made under pressure, and then—boom—the scenario ends on a cliffhanger. By the time learners reach the formal topics and objectives, they already care. They know why the content matters because they’ve felt the pressure of the operator and are invested in, “What happens next?” Review link: https://360.articulate.com/review/content/62ecf666-5ac5-4b7c-afc4-c3b02afd7d76/reviewPush vs Pull E-Learning
I first shared this entry for another challenge. I am reposting it here because the format fits this week’s theme of using interactive videos for scenarios and quizzes. This project illustrates how Push and Pull methods influence learner engagement in a fictional onboarding scenario. In the Push approach, learners view a simple slide that lists the company’s core values. It presents the content in a passive way. In the Pull approach, learners watch a short video scenario and respond to branching questions that require them to apply the core values. The choices shape the path, giving the experience a more active feel. This comparison illustrates how interactive videos enable learners to connect core values to real-life situations.
