Thanks - this is helpful for coaching classroom trainers tasked with course design/development. One or ten years back, the field engineers in my team didn't have the fortitude to resist information dump. I created a short coaching session about making a PB&J sandwich - first, the engineering description in excruciating detail, then how documentation would organize the information and present it, and finally how I would distill it into a training job aid , to the ultimate visual: a video I found online. The SMEs called this the backwards training funnel.

Love your example, Jerrie. Thanks for sharing that. I love how you took a seemingly mundane, simple task (making a sandwich) to show how there's often a LOT more steps and a lot more to the task analysis than people expect. Thanks for sharing your comment :)
