Using Variables to Personalize E-Learning #520: Challenge | Recap
🏆 Challenge of the Week
This week, your e-learning challenge is to use variables in Storyline 360 to create a more personalized experience for your learners.
And that means working with Storyline’s variables. Variables are how you adapt content based on learner input, decisions, or progress. From using a learner’s name throughout the course to tailoring scenarios based on their choices, variables help you design more dynamic, personalized e-learning.
🚀 Tips for Getting Started
Here’s how you can approach this week’s challenge at the level that works best for you:
- Start simple: Capture the learner’s name on the first slide and display it throughout the course.
- Level up: Use true/false variables to track choices in a branching scenario, such as selecting a role or preference, and customize feedback accordingly.
- Challenge mode: Build a scoring system with number variables that adjusts content difficulty, unlocks bonus content, or triggers a different summaries based on learner performance.
⚒️ Authoring Tools
You’re welcome to use any authoring tool you’d like this week. If you’re short on time, try quickly mocking up your ideas using PowerPoint, Figma, or your favorite graphics app.
🙌 Share Your E-Learning Work
You put in the effort, now make sure your work gets seen:
- Personal blog: If you have a blog, please write about your example from this week’s challenge and share the link with your submission.
- Social media: Please share your examples on LinkedIn and mention both David & Articulate using the #ElearningChallenge tags so we can help promote your work.
- Support your peers: With the new submission format, you can comment directly on each example. Try leaving helpful feedback on at least three projects this week.
- Community forums: Feel free to cross-post in the forums to give your work even more visibility.
