Animated Gifs in Presenter

Aug 09, 2021

Hello,

I did a quick search for this issue but only found old discussions.

Are animated gifs still not supported in Presenter? Are there any recommended workarounds for this?

Thank you,

Jen

Hello Jen!

Animated gifs are supported in Presenter 360. Gifs should play on the slide, in Preview, and the published environment. Where do you see issues with the gif playing?

If you'd like to upload your Articulate Package, feel free to attach it to this public discussion or upload it to us privately in a support case.

Hello Jen and Jane.

Thank you for sharing the Powerpoint file!

I encountered the same issue you described, and even attempting to export and re-insert the GIF files did not solve the problem. I went ahead and opened a support case on your behalf, so Jen, you should hear from our team soon via e-mail.

Hi Maria,

We got the animated gifs to work in preview by extending the animation timeline to 10 seconds.

Now we are running into an issue where it won't play when we publish the course to our LMS.

Our LMS' support suggested that we try different publishing settings or check that the software we're using supports it. We're using Articulate 360, so it is working.

Do you know why the gifs aren't animated when we publish to our LMS?

Thanks!

Hi Jane,

I'm glad you were able to work with my teammate, Gren, to help fix the initial issues with the animated gifs, though it sounds like it still isn't working in your LMS.

Gren offered some suggestions as she tested the file successfully in multiple environments, including SCORM Cloud, so I'm not sure we can troubleshoot further. You may need to continue conversations with your LMS as we've been unable to replicate the issue!

Hi Ren,

We are still having issues with animated gifs showing as static images in our course in LMS.

We reached out to our LMS support, and they are saying that the issue is caused by how the course is published because when it's published from Presenter, the images are in the output folder as PNG files.

Is there a setting that we need to configure when we publish a Presenter course so that animated gifs will show as animated and not as static images?

Hi, Christian.

Thank you for reaching out!

I took a quick look at the cases opened from this discussion, and it looks like a fresh re-install of Presenter solved it

Are you also using Presenter 360? If you can share your file with our support team, we're happy to take a look and help troubleshoot your specific scenario.
